I definitely think you should investigate further!

"I just don't know how to approach the other leader....I will feel really weird calling out of the blue and saying "By the way -- are you continuing with GS next year? If not, I would be happy to step up to lead the troop? Or if you still want to and need a co-leader I could do that too."

I would have LOOOOVED to get that call when I was a leader.
And that is exactly why/how I became a leader!

I WISH there were GS here...and we've been asked to be boy scout leaders (my H & I), which we are doing...but it's different, and it's sponsered/run by the church so it's a whole 'nother ballgame.

"My only other thinking but don't know if it's allowed is, can we just stay a Juliette and just get together to do Girl Scout stuff (but doesn't that become a troop then?). LOL"

Well, not exactly, cause a troop is registered as well as the individual girl. But yeah, as far as I can see you can do that too!

Go for it!!

That's awesome with your girls.

I know I read once about a troop that only met 1x month and did it as a sleepover since they basically crammed a lot in that weekend.

Thanks for your feedback.

I was just thinking Juliette because I know the dancer mom was talking about probably signing her DD up that way next year, etc... and was thinking we could all just get together and still work on things but not be an official troop, especially if we don't have the required min. amount of girls.

I think you are on the right track and this is the way older girl program is supposed to evolve!

By all means call that other gal and tell her you are willing. OR call the SUM or council office. Don't just try to put dd together with the core of the other leaders group; start fresh and recruit to the entire school to catch up with all the other former GS whose troops fizzled AND any new girls who never had the chance to participate and are now ready to do so.

At that age, even a group of 4-5 is fun. I had 5-7 in Cadettes and we had a BLAST!

I have been trying to contact the gal but have not had any luck yet.

It's not so much that I just want to put DD in with the core group, just that those are her friends and I figured it was a good starting point.
