Fun Group Games

Here's a fun group game that I just learned...please share your ideas for games as well.

Smog's Jewels

need a koosh ball or similiar object.

place ball in middle of floor. It is the Jewel. 1 person is Smog and protects that Jewel by hovering over it, but not touching it. Everyone else stands around in a large circle. An adult or whoever you want calls out a discription like:

if you are a Brownie or
if you are wearing red or
if you are over the age of 10 or
if you have a pet or
if you have been out of the country or
if you ate ice cream that week or
whatever you can think of...

Then whoever from the circle fits the description will move closer and try to steal the jewel without smog touching him/her before that person gets back to the circle. It's easiest if more than 1 person fit each description because then someone can steal the jewel while smog is defending it from another direction. If you get back to the circle, then you become smog and try to protect the jewel and the previous smog gets to join the circle.

This was fun for adults and kids together.

Star Wars Dodge Ball

2 hula hoops (safe spot on starship)
2 pool noodles (lightsabers)
5-8 playground balls (missles or whatever Star Wars people shoot at each other)
something to mark center line like 2 orange cones or jumprope

Group splits into 2 fairly even teams.

1 person from each team stands inside hula hoop which is located in the center back of each side of the playing field (think where the basketball hoops or soccer nets would be on a field or court) This person also holds the noodle.

Balls are originally lined up along center line until someone yells go, then everyone else from each team tries to get a ball and toss it at someone on the other team. If they are hit, then they kneel or sit down and are "frozen" in place until the 1 person can run out of the hula hoop and tag them with the noodle to unfreeze them. The game continues until one side ball hits the other side's person with the noodle while they are outside the hula hoop.

After the game is over, teams can mix up to give others a chance to be the person in the hula hoop.

We played this with adults and kids together.

I also thought it would be fun to do the caterpillar game, but I've never tried it.

That's when everyone in the group gets down on hands and knees in a line and holds onto the ankles of the person in front of them. Then they have to "walk" like a caterpillar for a team building exercise.

Could also break a larger group up into 2-3 caterpillars and have a race. If the line breaks, either start at beginning again, or whoever lets go of ankles is the head of the caterpillar and everyone else would need to get in line behind?

Just think it would be fun.
