On occasions when you accidentally eat a lot of carbs -----
Is there anything you can do immediately, to sort of help remedy it?

oh ok, I didn't know she wasn't on insulin. All she posted on the original post was

and this didn't tell me what her situation was.
Thanks

Not to worry...
Actually, no I'm not on insulin -
In fact, at this point I'm still a new Pre-Diab.
I just really wondered - and thought I'd ask the question here.
Thanks, everyone! I've learned a lot so far.
If you are a type 1 Diabetic as I am, you can add a shot of insulin and that should help. When I over do the carbs and my regular meal shot hasn't covered my intake, the doc gave me the info about correcting the overload. If you are not a diabetic and just concerned, try exercise. That helps burn the food you've eaten and adds to good health as well. Most times if you have a good idea about the carbs you ingest, you should be able to handle it with just the exercise, but there are those times the added insulin is needed.
Hope this helps,
M
Maureen,
You have come across the huge difference between type 1s and type 2s. Type 2s can't take any extra insulin and they have to tough it out when they eat or drink too many carbs. If it is too bad you learn quickly not to do that again! Exercise, increased fluids and an ounce of protein do help but sometimes you just have to sleep it off!
That was one reason I suggested both things, both the insulin (in type 1 cases) and the exercise. I know most people are Type 2 and it's so hard to fend off the carbs because of that, since a shot is not an option. :/
It's a shame they just haven't figured us out yet, isn't it?
