Hi everyone. I've been somewhat lurking here for about two months now trying to soak in as much info from all of your experiences. Finally decided to take the plunge and say hello :) and hope that you can share some of your knowledge and experiences with me too.

I'm a Type 2 diabetic. Was diagnosed first about 5 years ago. Took my meds like a good girl until I went off meds and controlled by diet after about two years. Then I was "bad." Didn't go back to doc for about three years. Finally went back this past April and my sugars were high and went back on meds. Go ahead, say it....what made you think you were no longer a diabetic and didn't have to test yourself for SO LONG? Don't know. Sheer stupidity on my part I guess.

So here I am now on Glucovance. Sugars doing pretty well. Triglycerides, cholestrol and blood pressure all doing well now - with medication. I can truly say I learned my lesson and will not stop anything again.

Here are my questions:

My doc says I do not need to see an endocrinologist. Agree or Disagree?

Also, my periods stopped once I started all my meds. Has this ever happened to anyone? I tale Glucovance, Lipitor, Lisinopril and Tricor.

And last but not least, why does it seem that my sugars take a bigger plunge in the evening after dinner? I take a Glucovance with breakfast and one with dinner and noticed that my after dinner numbers can really drop fast with the same amount of carbs. If I am nto careful to have enough carbs at night I can easily dip too low.

Thanks so much for "listening."

My doc says I do not need to see an endocrinologist. Agree or Disagree? I agree. It looks like your doctor is managing your disease just fine. We are spending a huge amount of time and energy teaching doctors how to manage diabetes. There are so many diabetics and not enough endo to go around. Generalists and internist should be able to take care of uncomplicated diabetics.

Also, my periods stopped once I started all my meds. Has this ever happened to anyone? I tale Glucovance, Lipitor, Lisinopril and Tricor. You need to ask your doctor about this one. The one concern that I have is with any one on advandia, which is the vance part of your med is that it can cause an unexpected pregnancy because it can cause you to start to ovulate again. But you have exactly the opposite problem and I don't know the answer.

It is probably the glucophage(The gluco part of your glcuovance)
