I set up this poll because recently so many have come and posted about not doing so well with their diet....

Diabetes is for life. It is human nature to live in denial with this disease because it affects our comfort foods. I don't have ONE of them that is not a problem for diabetes. I miss taters the most especially mashed potatoes. Now that is one comforting food. I can't say I will never eat it again but I will not eat more than a couple of spoonfulls. More that this and I have to suffer and that ruins my disposition. LOL

You mean like the treat-size Sinckers I had last night? Yeah I do - but I try not to do it very often. I prefer to think "I choose not to" rather than "I can't" because that perverse stubborn streak really gets riled if someone tells me "I can't". Yeah, I know it's mostly a semantic trick but it works for me way better than having a whole list of don't and can't.

I've had reflux issues for about 15 years and one thing I've noticed is that if I eat "gently" - that is, not too much at once and don't go a long time between eating either (so the acid doesn't get riled), I have way less issues with it than if I over eat. Obviously, I go easy on spices and I make sure to be vertical (sitting or standing, no reclining) for about an hour to two hours after eating -anything-. Eating small quantities regularly is not only helpful for dealing with reflux but also for losing weight and managing blood sugar levels.

Oh and white meat turkey is no carbs and pretty low fat if it's not basted in butter
