Great news!!

Had my 3 month diabetic checkup. Given that I have been on 2 meds that are somewhat "steroidal" my A1C was pretty good. Sadly I now have a new HIGH reading, but still not bad considering the one asthma inhaler(that i maybe should not have stopped) plus the med the PT put in shoulder(not cortisone) but i think it was less of a problem after the first week, when she changed method of getting it to shoulder...takes a longer period of time to get in.

Anyway, A1C was up to 6.4. Dr said to keep seeing PT, but start working on reaching backward with the right arm. am doing well with reaching up, forward and sideways but not reaching behind me. but Dr didnt think it was time to see ortho and neither of us like idea of cortisone shot! she also did i think creatnine and BUN(?) and said they were all fine too.

MY blood pressure numbers she was VERY happy with. most are not under 120 but ARE under 130 and most of the lower set of numbers is under 80!!

I did actually get to Y 3 evening this week so think i am getting back into that well also.

she did think i should keep up with the long acting asthma inhaler and also believes my nasty coughing is from asthma and not something worse. i gotta say in one way the cough is a pain, and bugs others but i sure rather it be that than gasping for air!!

Thanks Cheryl!!

AT least I didnt have much time to worry about the tests because I kept thinking the appointment was in August until I saw the PT last week and she told me to talk to my doctor when I saw her this week!! There was one really high BG number when I first got the med for shoulder but they used a fast acting way to get it into shoulder, and I think that made the BG level go up faster. The weeks after that it was up a little but not much and i tried to eat taking that into account!!

The cough in the past has usually come and stayed a month or two after i got sick with a respiratory bug, but this time it does NOT want to leave. Doctor says too even though coughing jags with asthna is not the most common type of asthma it does apparently happen. I know I should be thankfull that it seldom is getting to the point of being unable to breath, but when a jag starts and keeps on the only way to stop is to stop breathing, but at least then i AM controlling it!!

Since it appears this next time I will still be using both the inhaler(probably the long acting much more and that is the steroid one) and may be using the one for shoulder too, since dr says to work with the PT on reaching behind my back since i really cannot do that at all. At least by the time I see her next I should KNOW if the inhaler is working or not.
Was tempted to say will know if we are right thinking the cough is from asthma, but i remember my mother going through every single inhaler to find the one that works best because her asthma was realy bad. I am sort of hoping maybe the asthma is just hanging around longer and will stop being a problem again until i get sick next time!!
