Ever heard of Diabetes Insipidus?

Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of or has Diabetes Insipidus.

My 5 1/2 y/o son is being tested for this. His history is that he was never totally potty trained. He wets himself several times a day, despite making it to the bathroom the other times. He is constantly drinking.

He recently had his first round of blood and urine tests. Based on the those results, he is going in tomorrow for more in depth blood and urine testing. The first round came back that his urine was very diluted and his Osmolality, urine level was very low at 71.

Basically, from what my ped told me and from what I've researched, he might be missing the hormone that his pituitary gland releases that helps his kidneys concentrate his urine.

Just wanted to find out if anyone is franiliar with this and what I can expect if he is diagnosed with this.

I believe this is also known as Juvenile Diabetes.

You are correct about the support. On top of that some of the children might have been tested for this disease as the doctors decided whether the child had type 1 or not. I also wonder if it might be type 1 with a problem with antidiuretic hormone. Sometimes they go together.

Have a great weekend and I hope it isn't too hot where you are.
