Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say thanks again for all of your amswers to my many questions. DH and I started Diabetic Training on Friday and alot of info was given to us there too. They have us scheduled in classes for the next 9 mos. Not every month, but spread out over that period. Brian got some great advice and asked a few questions too. I was really glad to see him participating along with the others. He usually just sits there like a bump on a log and nods or something like that....lol. Part of the class was with a dietician too and that was extremely helpful and a bit confusing too. They said counting CARBS not Calories is what he needs to be doing and we were told 1800 Calories a day was what we needed to watch out for. so now we are counting carbs and avoiding sugar of course. We got a book on the basics of being a diabetic too. These classes will be a huge help to us, but I know I will be coming back with questions for you guys too. Have a good weekend.

Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad that you are getting the education necessary to manage thius chronic disease.

Once you get used to counting carbs you will find it so liberating. Because you can have almost anything once you know the carb content. I had counted exchanges for years and also knew the carb content of many items. Three years ago they started me counting carbs instead. I was amazed at the difference. Many item that we like to eat are a mixture and that makes counting exchanges more difficult. When you know the carb count of a certain serving size you can just run with it.

So please continue to visit us as you need to and I hope that Brian continues to do well.
