ty.
there are a few books and articles alleging a cure for it. that is not true. what happens is if you really dig your heels in and its caught early, you can have "normal numbers" but that does not mean you are cured!!
It is not unusual though for newly diagnosed to start suspecting they have been wrongly diagnosed because of getting the numbers under control.
On thinking about this more, I suspect that your family thinks that because most diabetics are over weight and insulin dependent diabetics are mostly young children that you can't be a diabetic. As we all know they are wrong on all fronts. What can be a challenge is to determine the type of diabetic that a person is. Just because a person is on insulin doesn't make them a type 1 diabetic. And just because they are thin doesn't make them a type 1 diabetic. Just because they are older doesn't make them a type 2 diabetic. It all depends upon what is going on with the person's pancreas and beta cells.
It's not fair to debate this with you. You have been to the doctor and s/he has made a diagnosis based on the best science that s/he knows and you are following their orders with success. That is all that is important. You need support and not second guessing.
Hold your chin up. You are doing well.
thank you some much for your kind words .
just the other day i was tell my mil about how i got back some of my blood test and told her i was doing really good .she then turns around and say to me see i don't know how you have to take the insulin i don't know why he put you on that.so fast I had to tell her ok i have to take the insulin because my pancreas is not making it for me.
she has a boyfriend that has type 2 but this person doesn't take care of him self at all he doesn't see his dr he doesn't take his insulin or what ever meds he has to take and she wants me to take his advice from someone who doesn't take of him self. I don't think so
i keep give her things to read but i guess she not read them. i tell her do you think i like to inject my self 4 times a day ..i don't think so ...
thank you again for your kind words
Part of the problem may be your mother is ignoring the problems her boyfriend is having and or he is hiding them from her!!
I would be tempted to tell her, "I don't want to have to deal with any diabetic complications AND want to see my kids grow up and have kids!! The best way to do that is to take care of it NOW!!"
Sounds like she might be even harder to deal with though if she turned into one of those "food police"!!!
Hang in there and just remember when she starts hassling you, she just does NOT understand the risks you face. Better that NEITHER of you have to deal with any of them!!!
