New Dx

Just diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes. Finally! My doc doesn't like to commit himself. I have been monitoring my blood sugar for quite a long time, he is the one that told me to, and it has been all over the graph. Finally today, he commited to a Dx of Diabetes, after about 1 year. He has had me on Glucophage 500 mg for PCOS for a year, now today he wants to double it and monitor my blood sugar for 4 months. He doesn't want to go aggressive, his words, right now. I have been sick for over 2 months, I have a post about it on the Crohn's board because he suspects that too, still going through tests for that, now this!
Thanks for letting me vent a little.
Peace and healing everyone,
Trilleon

Trilleon,

Welcome to the board. I am sorry you have had such a hard time getting the treatment you need. Celciac disease is quite common in diabetics. I don't know why. Did you have an A1C test done? Metformin is a first line drug for diabetics now and 1000 mg is not an unusual dosage. Changes in the blood sugar with metformin can take up to eight weeks, so don't expect to see changes immediately.

We are here to hand hold as needed, celebrate successes and lament failures. So it is fine to vent around here. We are happy to have you join us and I hope that you feel better real soon.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I have, indeed, been tested for Celiac. About 3 years ago my younger son was found to have it, then my older son, but oddly enough, not me. They have different fathers, so I know it wasn't inherited from that side.
Doc is pretty sure that my tummy problems have to do with Crohn's. I have classic first signs. I just need to have an abdominal CT scan done.
Thank you again for welcoming me.
Peace and healing to all,
Trilleon
