Got My First A1C Since Dx

Hi everyone:

I was diagnosed in April with Type II and my A1C was a high 9.9 with blood sugars at 260. I just got my blood test done and the doctor's office called me Friday to tell me that my numbers came down to 6.0 and 183. I am so happy. Since April I lost 55 pounds and have been taking Metformin twice a day.

I can't believe it. I thank all of you who helped me, especially Mary Frances, but I don't want to leave anyone out. I think it was Mary Frances that told me about the 30 carbs for breakfast and 45 for the other two meals with the snacks around 15 carbs. Because of those numbers, I stuck with it. Thanks so much to you Mary Frances and to all of you.

I am so glad about the 6.0 and 183 is under a hundred, but I still thought it was a bit high.

Take care all

Good Job ... I remember how happy I was when I saw my A1C numbers come down and so the last time back in May when I got my results back ... I droped from 5.5 to 5.3 and so I am just taking Glucovance ... 2x's daily { breakfast & dinner } !! So, good job keep it up & yes if you follow the carb count ... the weight will come off !!

Thank you Cheryl; I hope too. The official diagnosis scared me and I did everything I could to do it right and even though I am more used to it now, I hope it still scares me to do the right thing.

Take care.

Thanks so much. Yes, it sure is exciting to see the numbers come down and the weight come off! I was 70 pounds overweight and getting real scared. The carb diet, out of necessity, really helped. Thanks again.

Debbie,

You are most welcome for the help. That is what we are here for.

Congratulations on your wonderful A1C and your weight loss. By the way according to the Joslin Diabetes Center your average blood sugar is 106. I wouldn't be surprised if your doctor cut back or took you off medication when you see him. Your weight loss is what has done the trick. I hope you can continue to be physically active and get your weight as close to normal as possible. You are really doing a great job or preventing complications from your diabetes.

You get an ATTA GIRL Award! I haven't give one of these out in a while and you certainly deserve one! I am so happy for you for your success. Please let us know what your doctor has to say.

Cheers,
