I do not have diabetes but it runs in my family. I have been getting really sick if I eat late or miss a meal. A lot of times I feel like I could pass out. My family has been after me to get my sugar checked. I received a meter and tested it today. When I got up it was 83. Two hours after breakfast it was 87 and two hours after lunch it was 82. I was told to eat and check it after two hours by my grandma. I am just wondering if these are good or bad scores. Thanks for the help.

HI Jennifer,

A blood glucose reading of 82 in the morning after sleep and a cuople of hours after eating certainly isn't indicative of diabetes. I am not an expert but I have been a diabetic for a long time. You have some symptoms of concern though when you feel sick if you miss a meal or feel as if your going to faint when your hungry probably means your blood sugar is to low. That's called hypoglycemia the opposite of hyperglycemia which is another name for diabetes. I suggest checking with your Dr. He/She can perform a test to find if you have hypoglycemia. In the mean time eat several small meals a day and carry some candy or crackers or nutrition bars with you when your out and about. Sometimes hypoglycemia is warning light to hyperglycemia later and maybe good management now can save problems later. Exercise and weight mamagement are important to avoid diabetes, too. Especially if there is a family history. Good fortune, Jennifer.

Stay safe,
Pray for peace,
Kindest regards,

Paul

I think anything between 90 and 100 is good, a little lower or higher might be ok, over 130 is bad and under 75 is too low. I am pre-diabetic. I think that was okay as long as you feel okay.
