I am beginning to worry. The weather has been so awful around the world and no one has been here this weekend. Please let me know that you are alright.

Just came across a new sugar: www.lowcarbspecialties.com.

My dr had this chocolate bar in his office and it was great.

Amy,

I never heard of this before and so I can't comment on how it tastes. It does have more carbs than splenda. I am not really willing to use something that costs $21.95 for a 1 pound bag. That seems terribly high to me. Maybe for those folks that can't use Splenda this would be an alternative. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

How many carbs were in the chocolate bar?

I have been on quickly to read but not to post. I have been going with my husband to his sister's place everyday. He and his brother have been removing her skylights and closing them in.

I have been really bad this week in my eating. I am hoping to get back on track. I was just fed up with trying to figure out what is what!!!

The torrentual rains have finally stopped. They got the skylights out in time. It is now in the mid to upper 70's and the humidity is GONE!!!

Well I am back home. I think blood pressure might be sorta high right now! I have tried since Sunday to get on line. This time around I have been trying since 2:30pm to get on.
Finally got on by going through my AOL(backup) connection but could not get to ivillage from there and had to come through Mozilla web pages piggybacked on AOL connection!!!!

Not sure how long this will last either.

Anyway, Zena did very well even if we totally missed the specialty show on Friday. She did go Best of Winner's both saturday and sunday so has her TWO required majors for her championship!! Took that in 2 days!! She got a little squirrly at end of 2nd day or I think she would have been best of variety and had to go in for the groups!! Not to shabby for an 18 month old doxie!! She beat a number of specials too!!

Some testy moments but was a pretty good weekend.
Friday night was a little more adventuresome than we needed. We stayed in motel in Hudson, Wi and it turned out to be a challenging place! As sister was taking one of the doxie's behind the building for last walk, a guy came around the corner and said: " You don't want to go back there Ma'am! There has been some shooting there." While I was a few blocks away getting take out from Applebee's I saw several squad cars going past. Everthing seemed peaceful when I got back. We found out the next day, they had tried to serve a warrant on a guy who lived right behind there. he came out shooting, then got in vehicle and there was a high speed chase into MN where he was captured!! My sister had fallen asleep and didnt hear any of it!! I was also a little thankfull that the girls next door had their van parked right next to us, and they had a number of siberian huskies in the van(who were quite happy to bark at any intruders!!)

Wow Nancy! Life has certainly been an adventure for you lately! But you are home safe and sound and that is wonderful. Hopefully your blood pressure will come down quickly. Sounds like you had a good time at the dog show, which is wonderful.

I think I told you earlier this year that I went to all the expense to put up a deer fence on the part of my yard facing the open space. It was quite expensive to put up 134 feet of fence. I was eating my breakfast this morning in my night gown and without any shoes on when I suddenly saw an adult doe eating my cherry tomato plant. I roared out of the house to chase her away. She couldn't jump over the fence and I couldn't get the gate open. She was just franickly running around my yard crashing into the deer fencing. I thought she was going to break her neck to say the least. Meanwhile I tried to get the gate open and then I couldn't find her. Apparently she jumped over the gate beside my garage and left my yard. Hopefully I scared her enough that she won't come back but I am not sure. Since the fire 10 days ago there isn't much for them to eat in the wild. I was afraid this was going to happen. Today we had another fire in the open space and it burned right up to brand new homes. This fire was over 100 acres. There isn't much for them to eat around here until the rains start and that should be two more months.

Abby usually comes to the screen door when I go outside. I think there was too much actiivity for her. She hid on the other side of the room and didn't come out until I came back inside, scratches and all.

Well take care of yourself and don't work too hard.

Hi Maryfrances,

Well, the thing is "Ole' Paul" is still vertical and well enough to install a heavy 8000 BTU bedroom air-conditioner that made summer nights tolerable. I, also, have a new pal by the name of Hazel. No, I'm not cheating on Carol, Hazel a mutt I rescued from the county animal shelter. A pretty dog she is medium size and so full of affection towards us, as if she trying to show how grateful she is for saving her from euthanasia. She's about 2 years old and is house broken. Hazel goes hysterical when strangers approach the house so she is better than Slomins Shield for protection. Although if an intruder gave her a treat I think she may give the house away. I, also, hooked up my new internet high speed computer and have a printer on order. WOW! Do I love it. And, Mary-Frances I am so grateful for my medical coverage. You know that test I had for my dpn was nearly a $1000? Medicare and Aetna payed about 80% of it and I only owe a $15.00 copay. Speaking of the diabetic peripheral neuropathy, the Lyrica is working wonderful. I've come from disabled to about 95% my old self. I still get some intermittent patchy itchiness but it's tolerable. I haven't had a seizure in ten months and only have two more months to attain of seizure free activity and I can get my licesne back. The seizures as you may recall are from brain surgery I had seven years ago to remove a benign tumor. So you can see why the word "Survivor" is part of my new password. Hope everything is well with you, MaryFrances.

Stay safe,
Pray for peace,
Best wishes,

Paul

Paul,

You are truly amazing. I remember when you had your brain surgery and we were all so worried about you.

I hope you like your high speed internet connection and computer. I can't imagine going back to dial up. I am as distant as you can get from the telephone company to get high speed and so sometimes it isn't as fast as it should be. There was a debate about whether I could have it because I am truly the last person on the line!

Abby is a rescue kitty and she is so bonded to hubby and me. She will have been with us 1 year next week. What a fast year it has been. There is a wonderful dog named Suzi who lives next door to me and thinks she owns me also. She is a rescue dog from an abuse situation. It has taken several years for her to become comfortable but she has now become a therapy dog and she visits dementia patients in a nursing home. You couldn't ask for a nicer or more devoted animal. I hope you have Hazel for a very long time. I hope she is also a good physical trainer when she takes you on walks!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that you don't have anymore seizures.

Enjoy your new air conditioner. It has been so hot around here that I have had to have the air conditioner of in the late afternoon. Unfortunately we have been on power watches but no outages yet.

Take care and thanks for letting me know how you are doing,
