Hi my husband has had diabetes since he was 16, it's always been uncontrolled and has now caught up with him. He's had this scratchy feeling in his ey for a couple weeks. He asked about it but never went to the doctor for it. Well anyway he told me on fri. he had to go get it checked at the eye doctor. The exam took 3 hours and we found out he has blood clots behind the eye, and has to have emergency surgery. What does this mean the doctor says its really bad does that mean blindness or just bad sight which he'll need glasses for please let me know Im very worried

One last thing you may need to now he's on a lot of pills, he's been told to go on the needle but won't. He's 45 and blood tests range about 14 to 18 are.

Anything else you need to now I'll keep checking back in every hour or so. You can also email me at aquarius-65@hotmail.com.
Thank You Dana

Hi Dana,

Your husband must be a type 2 diabetic otherwise he wouldn't be alive now because without insulin he would be gone. But he is certainly out of control. On top of that he must feel awful. He is most likely developing diabetic retinopathy which is a complication of uncontrolled diabetes. He must also be having laser treatments to stop the hemorrhaging. They are obviously trying to say his sight. I certainly hope that they are successful. Incidentally one of the reasons that I post messages using larger print is because of the visual problems of some of the members.

I am on insulin injections and while I didn't want to start I knew that I needed to. I was quite upset at the time and my doctor and my husband were really surprised. My husband offered to give me the shots but as a nurse I knew how to give them to myself and I just needed to do it. That was over 3 years ago. It really isn't that bad but it is a fear that diabetic have a hard time getting over. I now take two medications by injection, giving myself four shots per day.

Diabetes is a progressive disease and it is possible for type 2's to wear out their beta cells and need to have insulin just like a type 1 but not for the same reason.

Please let us know how he is doing. This is a safe place to come to ask questions and to get your hand held in this scary time. We are here to help in anyway that we can.

A very gentle hug,

I don't think you can increase the size unless you have the Express Yourself package. See the pink thing in my siggy. There is also away to make it larger using the control key on the keyboard.

I look forward to hearing how your hubby is doing.

Actually, there's a little trick you can do on the Internet (any site) without changing the font size at all (or using a pay-for package)

Simply hold the CTRL key down then scroll the wheel on the mouse - text will get bigger or smaller (depending on which way you roll)

Deb,

I have done what you suggest. I can't spill the beans but just watch for a surprise. I can't tell you more but you will understand soon.
