A different way to make twice baked potatoes! It does sound good. Do they get crisp and browned? How long do you leave them one the grill?

I made an apple crisp tonight using my homegrown gravensteen apples and the topping from the peach crumble. It did taste good. I learned that I needed to add some water to the apples otherwise they don't get soft. I don't peel them and so they don't fall apart. Gravensteen apples have very thin skins and therefore don't ship well. But it

If you would like a slightly crisp layer on the cut surface, do not spray with the vegetable oil spray.

Hi 2Sweet02,

I would think that the serving size would be 3 ounces the same as it is for a baked potato.

We have one of those gas barbecue grills that you can cook for a whole family on and there are only two of us most of the time. Maybe if step daughters come for their father's birthday I can get some steaks and try this. It is often a nuisance to pull it out for just the two of us. I used to have a really small one that I used all the time but it worse out!

How is your sister doing? I haven't seen her around the board lately. I hope all is going well with her.

Hi Cheryl,

What a way to get exercise! Did you have your glucometer with you? I would really worry that you were either really over heated and dehydrated or experiencing low blood sugar from the heat and the exercise. I know you aren't on meds yet but you can still develop low blood sugar from all that exercise.

Please take care of yourself. You are too special around here.

2Sweet02,

Please tell her that I asked about her and I hope she feels better real soon. Mobility problems aren't much fun.

Hi Y'all,
Mary Frances, I appreciate you asking about me. There are so many kind and loving folks who are connected by this board. lurking is rampant, and I am one who does that when I can get this old PC monster to turn on using (literally), a metal nailfile and tweezers.
I'm 76 and was diagnosed in 1999, so I think I'm doing just fine. I take 500 mg metformin a.m. & p.m. Lisinopril lipitor, Cartia & Fosamax. My first lumbar MRI, June 25, revealed compression fractures, several bad discs, arthritis etc. Dr.S. suggests it is too much, so I'm not a candidate for surgery. He said walking for exercise is too much impact. My hips and left knee are noisy and painful. Both legs swell .. especially the left. I have never been referred to a nutritionist, or diabetic counselor, so I take lots of vitamins and supplements that should help keep me bright-eyed bushy-tailed and movin' on. I hope they are the right ones. I keep going with All Night standing, walking and leaning-on-the-shopping-cart exercise sessions at the Walmart. If you go in about 11:00 p.m. it is quiet except for the working folks who are moving pallets and cleaning. They smile and speak, sometimes chatting a bit as they are stocking shelves. If you get tired or in pain, you can go out to the flowers in the garden shop, buy a drink from the machine, and rest a while on the outdoor furniture display. Check out at the one cashier. Go home, or stop by The Waffle House for an egg and one slice dry raisin toast. Put groceries away, and watch the sunrise from the porch. I place my cell phone on the bed, the cane beside it and cuddle up to sleep before full daylight.
My DS 2Sweet02 usually calls, ( or I call her) in the afternoon. I sometimes will invite myself to her house fo dinner. In my defense I do buy it and take it to them occasionally.
I did drive in April to Richmond, VA and stayed 40 days. I took my older friends to their Dr. appts. and visting around... drove one to Williamsburg VA, took another shopping in Charlottesville etc. That will probably be my trip for this year as I am going to have some things done here with water drainage, have a fence built, plantings etc.

O God of Promise, I look expectantly to your promise of today with its new surprises, challenges and joy.

God Loves Us,
Ava
