This was one of the symptoms I was experiencing before being diagnosed with diabetes (type 1) and one of the reasons I went to be tested.

Yes, it can affect both men and women. Both diabetes itself and some of the medications (blood pressure and cholesterol lowering meds for instance) as well. Anything that affects cardiovascular health (and diabetes does) can affect sexual function. And, too, I've noticed that a high reading often corresponds with me being so sleepy that I can't stay awake long enough to be 'fun' for DH (I'll nod off at 7 pm if my sugar is high into one of those hard to wake sleeps). I'd suggest (a) checking to make sure his blood sugar readings are staying within reasonable guidelines (b) check to see if there might be ways to adjust any medications/change medications to see if there might be something with less effect in this regard (my DH is on blood pressure medication and has been for several years but it's at a really low dose of one of the less "intrusive" types of bp medication) (c) I'll try to put this delicately as I can but maybe you might want to consider doing a little "warming up" yourself ahead of time if your hubby isn't willing to slow down a bit and engage in more foreplay with you before focusing on himself. Consider things like mutual stimulation without intercourse sometimes as a way for you both to meet what you need without the 'performance' pressure.
