What was your highest blood sugar reading that you are aware of? What did you do with this reading? Did you call the doctor or go to the ER? How did you treat it?
Highest I can recall was in the low 200s (maybe 206 or 210, somewhere like that). I drank some water, evaluated what I ate, did, etc that day to see if I could isolate a trigger, and retested an hour later to see if it had dropped any (it did). Generally speaking, those really high (for me) numbers are when I have too many carbs (french fries instead of fresh or steamed veggies, for example). DH and DS don't like it when my numbers go high because I get sleepy and grumpy and that's no fun. I hate feeling that way and when I fall asleep it's that dead-drugged sleep, not really restful, kind of like a big dose of Nyquil.
My highest that I remember was 410. This was before I was on insulin and I was sick with one of my awful respiratory infections. I had been to the doctor and prescribed antibiotics but they hadn't kicked in yet. I didn't call the doctor because I knew that things would get better as soon as the antibiotics started to work but I did watch my carb intake carefully and check my sugars more frequently. I actually can tell that I am getting better before I feel any better because my blood sugars will return to normal. Conversely I can tell that I am getting sick when my bloods sugars are elevated for no good reason.
Since I have been on insulin I think the highest I have seen, when I have eaten something that I am not supposed to, is 300 but it comes down quickly.
I was admitted w/blood poisoning. Treated w/antibiotics & steroids(IV.) The highest reading was 384. I was terrified. All the dr. ordered was coverage 3 times a day along w/my usual insulin injection. I never saw below 200 until about 2 weeks after I was discharged to home. jan

I think the highest I have seen is about 186 and that was 2 hours after eating.
In September, it was 206.

Yesterday, I tested 2 hours after lunch.
