insulin resistance and running

I have the begining of diabetes called insulin resistance and my cholesterol numbers are off. My insulin numbers were above the normal but low, so it's caught early, thankfully. I've been reading and living the "Insulin Resistance Diet" which is really not a diet, but a way of eating. You "link" protien with carbs at each meal, and have no more than 30 carbs per meal. I found that the 7-8lbs that my body has been holding onto for the last year or so, has come off. I'm not over weight, and I exercise a lot (I just completed a marathon, do yoga and core work outs, and some weights). I'm a vegetarian. Adult onset diabetes and cholesterol problems run in my family. I now need to know how to fuel properly for my long distance running. Am I in the right place? If not, would you direct me to where I need to be?
Thank you,
Lisa :)
