While what this other person was doing probably wasn't great, they may be using insulin and have it adjusted for "Party" type foods for the evening.
Be that as it may, the thing that stuck out to me is being afraid to eat "like that". Yes, it goods to be wise and proactive about caring for your health (and sticking with non-sugar type beverages is great) but fear is a stress factor that can throw off your blood sugar. Rather than an "I'm afraid to do that" attitude, an attitude of "I *choose* not to do that" is something I find really helpful - not a fearful outlook, not a "gee I can't" outlook but a clear, proactive CHOICE to do what is best for me right at this moment (and sometimes that might mean a *small* piece of pie or a *sip* of root beer).

Remember, I am not a medical person, but I read about our disease *a lot*.

no they take only a pill.. but she said she nows when she going low she also told me she doesn't test her self at all she just nows when she high or low.
now as for me I am type I use to drink but my doc told me I cant drink anymore. and I hate it with the holidays come I would have a drink or two now I cant have any ...my numbers have always good and I don't want something set off to go bad..
She is wrong not to test.
My immediate knee jerk temption is to give you a warning!!
Do not ride in a car with this person and do not let others you know do so either!!!
and, even IF she "was" accurate with that at some point, (a) under the influence of alcohol, NO ONE can accurately assess their physical condition (b) over time, the body stops producing the same signals so one can be low or high and be *unaware* of it totally.
If nothing else, her A1C would show her doctor that she's not managing things very well over time.

If she's on medication of some form, *somebody* is prescribing it. If that person is simply writing scripts without any sort of lab work to back it up, that's a major problem.

I agree...
