I bought a pedometer, measured my stride as the instructions said, then set off on several walks, which I knew were exactly a mile from start to finish.
This article doesn't say it but walking is good excercise for helping to control diabetes...

What type did you buy?
I agree with 2sweet02, I have tried several and have trouble getting the stride correct or they just aren't working right so I gave up.
The daily goal is 10,000 steps.
I bet we have the same one.
I really like it having a leash !! first couple days, I wore it on waistband and knocked it off at least 3 times each day.
