Hi, I'm new. I'm 19, and have been diabetic (type 1) for about 18.5 years. I've had some struggles, and my blood sugar levels are a little hard to control, but I've been managing as best I can.

I don't trust the pump one bit. I take both Humulog (I should be able to spell that by now) and Lantus, and for a while I was on the lantus pen. Basically, you keep the base part and just put in a new cartridge whenver you need to. Well, twice it didn't work. I dialed it up, I did everything right, pushed the plunger, it went down like normal. Woke up the next morning at about 450. I never want to go through that again, I've never been sicker (I don't remember when I was diagnosed, so I can't say how sick I was then). So, I've rather use good 'ole vial and needle and know that I'm getting the insulin rather than relying on a machine that may have it's faults.
