Hello all, I am new to this board and after browsing around the posts for a bit I thought I would join the community.

I was wondering if any of you are on an insulin pump and if so, how long did it take for your sugars to be under control after starting the pump?

I am a type 1 diabetic, diagnosed in May of 2005 and just began using the insulin pump in Sept 2007. I am still having highs and lows quite often and I was told after about 3 months I should begin to level off. I have made all visits to the diabetes educator as scheduled, except for this months visit due to the educator calling in sick. I have rescheduled my visit for January. During the previous visits she reviews my blood sugar readings, my daily insulin intake, the amount of carbs eaten, etc. We have made changes to my basal insulin and also the bolus insulin. I am beginning to feel frustrated with the pump because it doesn't seem to be making things any better as of yet. I realize patience is a virtue but when it comes to my health I am concerned.

If anyone has any experience with using the insulin pump, I would appreciate any insight you may have.

Thanks!!
