I saw the nurse practioner today... Needed to for my blood pressure meds. Hadn't realized I hadn't been in since the middle of last April!!! Well, first off I am down 7 pounds since then! Ok, need to loose much more but I will 'take' being down anything!!!
I also pointed out that it had been almost 3 weeks since my blood work and as far as I knew they still hadn't gotten the results of my a1c. The nurse went digging and made some calls. NP said it was good and then told me that it was 6. That is up from last year. I don't remember exactly what but think it might have been 5.7. (Went to a different office since I didn't want to see the np at the one I usually go to... don't like her!) We talked about my morning numbers and she said they aren't bad. I know they aren't bad but higher than I would like them to be. I think it was 107 this morning. But I wish mine were where they used to be. 70s, 80s and an occasional low 90s.... They were when I was sick at Christmas... So I know they can be again.
I have had this 'thing' under my arm. Thought it was a boil, she thinks it could be a cyst. Gave me an antibiotic to see if it will 'heal' and stay that way. If not will most likely need to have Dr or another np lance it....
Frustration is only 1 refill on my bp/cholesterol....
I left feeling pretty good!!! Lost weight. Not bad a1c....

Remember.... you are NOT alone!!!!!

why the limit on the refill of the med?
I don't know why on the refill, maybe because it is a different dose of the bp?

Thanks for the heads up Amy!
I have had some of those lumps under my arm but that goes away on its own within a short time(of course i think the last time was prior to being diagnosed with diabetes.
Will also say years ago I got what looked like a pimple on my forhead, and for some reason i just felt uneasy about it. asked my boss if i could take off to see doctor(seemed weird cuz i had lots of times when i had pimples on my face, but there was just something about this one that made me uneasy. ).
Cheryl,
Your blood sugar may be up a little because of the "cyst/boil". Even something that small can mess with your blood sugar. Hopefully the topical antibiotic will help. Also putting hot compresses on it for twenty minutes four times per day may help and certainly would make it feel better. (Now remember I am not a doctor so ask them if you should do this.)
Cheryl,
Sorry about the comment about topical, I think I miss read what you wrote. If it is infected, either a boil or a cyst you need to take an oral antibiotic. The reason that they have designed once per day antibiotics is because patients forget to take them and then stand the chance of not curing what they were taking the meds for and becoming either allergic or resistant to the meds.
Topical wouldn't work because the infection isn't on the skin but rather in the skin, specifically the sweat ducks and/or hair follicles.
Hope this feels better soon,
