What do you do when you are under the weather?

  • Drink hot tea
  • Eat chicken soup
  • Monitor blood glucose levels more often

I picked chicken soup because that's most likely. I also might drink some hot tea and I'd probably check my glucose levels more often (currently dr requires just 1x per day). If I stayed sick for more than 2 or 3 days or I had serious symptoms (not able to keep food down, difficulty breathing/major chest congestion, etc) I'd probably call the doctor. I waited for too long last winter - a head cold became a cough/chest congestion became pneumonia. Not good - I lived on chicken broth and the occasional Clementine tangerine for about 3 weeks until DH pushed me to get to the doctor who sent me asap for a chest xray and then to the pharmacy for Zithromax. The upside of it all was that I lost about 10 lbs - great jumpstart for a diet LOL especially since I really couldn't eat much even once I was feeling better because I had eaten so little for so long.

Cheryl,

I snagged this from the ADA and I wanted to see how we rated as compared to the folks who answered the poll for them. There wasn't a selection for other, so I didn't include it.

I answered chicken soup, but to be honest none of the answers was exactly right.
