I got talked into doing a weight loss challenge with a friend of mine. The challenge is sponsored by the wellness program at the local community college where she works. In addition to weight loss they are asking all participants to walk 10,000 steps per day and have provided a pedometer. To track your progress they have made a website available where you can keep track of your food intake as well as how many steps you have taken.
I thought I was an active person until I took on this task. I have only been doing this since Wednesday. My first day I walked 6457 steps and yesterday I walked 8923. I know I can take on the task of making it to 10,000 steps. I'm at 7609 as I sit and type this and still have a good deal of the day to go but it is definitely a challenge. And it is most definitely not riding my bike....I thought I could do 10,000 easy...it won't be right now but I'm going to make it second nature.
I'll keep you posted and let you know if I make 10,000 steps and will let you know how many pounds I shed during this process. The challenge is only for 60 days but the idea is to get you in the "mode" where you just do and don't think about losing the weight and doing all the walking.

Yes, 10,000 steps.
Good for you! I have tried to walk the 10,000 and I seldom make it. But I did increase my amount of walking. I did have problems with the pedometer recording everything I did and that was frustrating. What an admiral goal and I hope you make it. I will watch for how you do and how much weight you lose.
