OB Apt. Yesterday

I had my second OB appointment yesteday.  I got to hear the heart beat, it went pretty well.  I was dehydrated and my blood pressure was very high.  So, I'll have to go on meds for that but it wasn't unexpected.  He said it was all perfect!

I got to have an ultrasound!!  He wanted to get exact measurements and I was able to get in at 2 pm.  I was a bit sad that I was doing it alone, but it was great.  I got to see all the parts, beating heart and it was moving all over.  It was too early to tell the sex yet, darn it!  But all was well, it even measured to the day of my due date.  I got a picture also.  I'll probably have 2 more ultrasounds before it's all over with.

I'll have a planned c-section this time, instead of an emergency one.  It's safer for me that way, with my health.  It's just fine by me!  I'll probably be 1-2 weeks before my due date or August 10th.

Misty,

How much weight did you gain? Did the doc say anything about the amount of insulin that you are needing? I have been meaning to ask you if anyone thought that a pump would allow you to have better control and need less insulin? One of our boardies got a pump during her pregnancy and she did really well.

Can you post the picture from the ultrasound?

Can you tell we like being part of your pregnancy!

Misty, I'm a Type 1 diabetic who has recently had 2 children. Our son will be 5 in May and our daughter was 2 in September. Both children were csections, but the first was because I had placenta previa. He was 7 lb 11 oz at 37 weeks and our daughter was 7 lb 3 oz at 38 weeks. I had 10 u/s with him and 12 with her. They actually wanted to do them every 3 days in the last tri even though my A1cs were in the mid fives. My A1c now has been 5.9 for years, but it might go up since I was sick at Christmas. Anyway, if I can help in anyway you can email me through my profile (I think) or post here. Good luck with everything!

Misty,

Were you on insulin for your first pregnancy? If so, do you remember how much? It is hard when you live so far away from your health care team. I am sure this part of the reason that you will be having an elective c-section.
