Help with blood sugar issues

Hi,
I normally have had most of my life normal blood sugars, never anything high. 45 has been a low without eating in the morning, so I have been low. Lately I find that i have bene runningin the morning on occasion about 146 147 with only half a cup of coffee with one spoon of sugar which is HIGH for me. The odd thing is often these are times I feel weird. Shaky, dizzy brain fog times.
So I testing with no food (half a cup of coffee) at 146 then I had a smoothie with half a banana, berries, skim milk, half a scoop protein powder and 1/4 cup oatmeal for breakfast. I waited one hour and tested again at 120 which is more normal for me.
I just don't understand the morning feelings and readings.
I do live with a type 1 and type 2 diabetic but neithter can answer my questions.
Did anyone else feel that way as a diabetic or pre-diabetic?? I worry a bit as before I never did test that high.
I am going to have my dr. do a fasting glucose and in the mean time I am doing random testing.

Seeing your dr and being tested is a good idea!
Have you tested *without* the coffee in the morning? Get up and just test right off before anything? Could be that the caffeine is having some sort of effect. Also, if you are female (can't tell from the screen name or profile), hormonal changes can really affect blood sugar readings so it is possible to go from normal readings to unusually high OR low.
Getting a doctor's input is definitely important.
