Hi all - I am back, with some news that is both exciting nad a bit scary for me.
It has been a long road of deciding for me and my husband but we are ready to start the baby steps we need in getting ready to TTC. I say getting ready to try because I have a somewhat "special" set of circumstances. I am daibetic type II and suffer from mild depression.
SO.....before I can start TTC I need to:
- Come off of my oral meds for diabetes and go on insulin March-May
- Wean off my depressions meds - May-June
- Then we are hoping to start trying in July/August.
I have no doubt that some of this will not be easy but I am refusing to over think it. What is mean to be will happen and all I can do is the best I can.
My A1c levels have been decent in the mid 6's and I am hoping to get them down even more with being on insulin. I feel a little overwhelmed with having to learn what it will take to keep the right balance.
I have an appointment with my ob/gyn, my endocrinologist and my nutrionist the week of March 18h to start the whole process. Eveyone is telling me that if I take care of myself my risks will be minimal (at least from the diabetes part). I know several of you here have kids and I could sure use a little cheerleading along the way here.
Aside from the diabetes I am turning 37 this year so I am a little older than I would like to be starting this and I have mild- moderate depression managed by meds that I will have to come off. Sometimes I think I am nuts to even be trying...all I know is we were on the fence for a long long time and now that I have made the decision I have been smiling ear to ear.
Would love to hear any and ALL advice.

That is sooo cool Michelle!!!!
Well, can't help with the meds and all but I was 37 when DS, my one and only, was born. And, my SIL is going to have her first (and probably only) in a few weeks and she's 37. One thing I will note is that you'll likely get a lot of "you have to have this test and that test and the other test because of your age". Ask LOTS of questions, do your own checking, and come to your own decisions.
Be sure to get plenty of good exercise, outdoors when possible, as that's been shown to help the milder forms of depression (and it'll be good for your blood sugar too). Oh, and drink plenty of water - staying hydrated is important in multiple ways.

Hi all thanks for the good tips! I also see an acupuncturist and I am going to check with my ob.gyn about continuing to see her as she suggested (the acupuncturitst) suggested that it can help with depression too.
One step at a time. It's a long road just getting to TTC!
Congrats on making the decision to TTC!!

Oh thank you so much Misty - all of what you wrote makes me feel worlds better. I have scheduled my appt. with my Ob/Gyn for March 18th just to go over everything with her as she will be the "hub" of communications from the other doctors. She is supposed to call me this week with a name of the endocrinologist that she works with when she delievers babies with diabetic moms and also the name of a good nutritionist. I know it probably does not sound very proactive but I just want someone to tell me what to eat! LOL.
As I know more and get further along in the process I
