My lower legs near my ankles are causing me some distress. It is okay for now, but if it gets worse I will call the doctor. Has anyone had cellulitis? My legs are dry and itchy. I worry about getting it and I read diabetics are susceptable to it. They are a little pink, but not bad. But they do itch. I found out though, that my pajama bottoms have lace on them and when I took them off, the itching went away so maybe that's it. But I still worry anyway. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with it. Thanks.

Never had cellulitis but do have major skin irritation and itching with lace and certain other fabrics (I bought a pair of thigh high stockings once that had a nice wide band of elasticized type material at the top to keep them from slipping down - BIG mistake, I had an itchy rash on both legs right exactly where that touched - so much for the 'romance' of the things, I was too itchy to be 'in the mood') Can't touch a lace edged bra or PJs or anything and don't even want to. Plain old cotton or cotton/flannel for the lot.

Also, staying hydrated and moisturizing, especially in winter-dry air, is really important.

Thanks so much for your advice Deb. Sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you can offer me help. I will do that. I do have a problem staying hydrated and I have to work on that. My legs feel better now. I am now sure it is the lacy pants. Well, can't wear them anymore.

Speaking of yeast, that's another thing to keep an eye out for - it's not just "that area" that can get yeast infections. Anyplace on the body can get a "cutaneous" form of candidia - the groin area particularly at the edges of underwear area and under the breasts are susceptible because of the warm damp area. Underarms and other places as well are susceptible and diabetics are particularly at risk because we're so sweet :-) Seriously, though, diabetics are at risk in general for yeast infections and they can show up anywhere - genital area, skin, mouth ("thrush"), etc. Keeping carbs under control and keeping up with 'good' bacteria such as found in yogurt can help.
