My mom was recently put on a 16oo calorie diet as well as a diabetic diet she is 55 years old 151 lbs and aobut 5' 5". the meal plan they gave her is small and has us all confused I was wondering if there is some place where i can get meal plans that would fit her needs. Im trying to figure out how many calories carbs and fats she should be having at eatch meal. she was told wiht the 1600 calorie diet that she only gets one snack in the evening but then the diabetic meal plan they gave her says she needs to have a snack in the morning? I need some information about what she can and cant have in simple terms something like a list of breakfast foods kinda like a pick 1 food from colum one and 2 from the second colum kinda thing that i can send to her she is getting so frustrated and up set over not understanding what they told her and honestly my dad emailed me a couple of the papers the dr gave her and it makes no since the 1600 calorie diet is telling her one thing and the diabetic diet is telling her something totally different. any help or ideas? thanks a bunch

Hi and welcome to the board.
As for not feeling well.
thanks for the info Im pulling up some recipies following the carb rule and im going to add up the calories and do a couple days menues to give her and see how her blood sugar does on that. Ill let her know that its normal not to feel well as she readjust to the lower blood sugar levels. Mabie that will put her at ease a little. should she be getting a protein, vegie, at every meal? she also needs to watch starches right that would part of the White dont ite rule right potatos white rice etc. ? is there a place i can get a list of how many carbs are in different things like fat free milk,
Starches are carbs. Sugar is a carb.
Calorie King and a number of others also put out books. I think the calorie king has one that lists many restaurants and carbs, sodium, calories, etc in a number of the restaurant selections. I think it might also cover the same on regular foods.
I don't know about the on line places to get strips.
