My numbers are off...

So the past few days (since last Wednesday) my numbers have been really weird. My morning numbers are very low usually in the low 70's and my pre-lunch numbers have been anywhere between 190-220. Pre-dinner numbers have been around 140 or so. Nothing has changed concerning my diet or exercise except my schedule. I was working nights and now I have started working days again. My numbers were not like this last time I was on day shift. I really don't know what is going on. Anybody got any clues.
On another note, I am in line for a promotion at work but that would take me out of the bike patrol unit and put me in the investigations unit, specifically the crime lab. I would just hate to see what my numbers would do if I wasn't exercising the majority of the day. I would be spending my first 6-8 months in class almost continually getting certified in the various aspects of forensic investigations. It also means I go from working a 10 hour day to working a 12 hour day. Major decision time I guess.

First off congratulations on the promotion!!!
Sounds like your circadian rhythm is totally off - going from nights to days or vice versa can throw off even a "normal" person's system. Your body still thinks it needs to be pumping out energy to use at the times it was needed for night shift and cutting back when it thinks you're heading into "sleep mode". That'll really muck things up and time is the only thing that will adjust it. Meanwhile, keep on doing the good stuff you know you should be doing.

Hi,
I agree with Deb. When I go travelling it takes a few days before my blood sugars settle down and get used to my new schedule. But if this continues you might need to see your doctor because you could have an infection. In many diabetics bladder infections are silent in diabetics. In fact the #1 risk factor for bladder infections is being diabetic. Do keep a close watch and call your physician.
I am sure you don't like being a science experiment but it would be interesting to see what 12 hour high stress job does to your blood sugar. There is a lot of adrenalin secreted in CSI type work.
Have a great weekend.
I guess the first 2 things I would do are 1) if you buy any type of convenience foods, check to make sure they have not changed what is in it
I considered the shift change as a reason for the change in numbers.
Yah!!!
Might you be able to use relaxation tapes to lower the stress some?
I have one that has 4 exercises on it, one is a trip to the beach.
