Yesterday I was talking my lunch insulin. I got the syringe, put in the insulin and had just insterted the needle. I looked down, and I thought the syringe looked big. I had put my meal time insulin in my 24 hours insulin syringe, which is 1 CC, meal time is 1/2 cc. Anyway...I had automatically put 40 units in the syringe, I take 40 u 2x a day. But this was short acting, and I only needed 20 units, not 40. If I hadn't caught it when I did, I'd have gone for a walk after lunch with my DD. With twice as much short acting in me, I'm sure it would have been disaster. Imagine having a major low in the middle of a walk down a country dirt road with a 3 year old.
It sure scared me! I'm usually very careful but now I'm double checking every time.

Misty,
Other than double checking I can't think of anything that you can do to prevent this from happening again. Just please be careful because as you said, this could be a disaster. Do remember to carry some glucose tabs with you when you go for your walks as you never know when you are going to need it.
Have a great weekend.
You know, I always used to have my call phone and glucose or candy when I went for walks.
