Hello, a couple questions ;o)

Hi all. ;o)  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago.  My baby is due June 20th, but I'm having a repeat c-section so I'm sure he'll be here sooner than that.

At my last appointment I was told I have some ketones in my urine along with my 3rd UTI of this pregnancy. I read up on ketones and know what they are and know why they were there.  So, my mid-wife suggested more protein snacks as well as eating consistently, which I have definately been doing this past week.  I go in to get checked up, on Friday.  Hopefully the ketones will be gone!

Anyway, so what I'm asking is what kind of protein snacks would you suggest?  I, right now am eating mostly about 6 crackers with peanut butter or whole wheat toast with Peanut butter.  Good thing I like peanut butter.  But, I do need to get a variety in there.  I'm okay with suppers, I fix high protein meats, etc.

ALSO, what kind of bread do you buy?
And what kind of pasta??  I use the no sugar added Ragu sauce which only has 9 grams of Carbs which is great.  My exchange is 15g per serving of carbs.

Thanks in advance for everything and any piece of advice you can give me.  I truly appreciate your time and your answers.  ;o)

Hi and welcome to the board,

Don't forget about low fat cottage cheese also as it makes a great protein snack. There are some high fiber breads made by Earth Grains that I like also plus WASA crackers. I usually make my own sauce. It is really easy and nice when tomatoes are in season. I am allergic to onions which makes most of the commercial sauces off limits.

We love being cyber aunties around here and it does look like we will have enough babies to go around! Its such a nice way to get your baby fix. So please continue to let us know how you are doing and June 20th isn't that far off. I gather that you didn't have GD with your other kiddies.
