Good evening,

I am new here and have a been a diabetic for 15 years. I have had nothing but trouble with my blood sugars. We are now starting to get it on track. I am taking insulin. My diabetic instructor asked me how I felt about the insulin pump. I have some doubts, but not a lot of information on them. Could somebody fill me in or direct me to a site that can give me more information on using them.

Any information would be really helpful. Thank you all so very much

Gail,

I am also on insulin but only one insulin injection per day. If I eventually need to take long and short acting insulin I am hopeful that I can get a pump. A pump is the most expensive delivery system and some insurance companies won't go for it but the pump companies are used to working with doctors to achieve what the patient needs. A pump mimics how your pancreas worked when it worked correctly. There are even built in glucose monitors into the pumps now. It takes some learning

Mary,

Thank you so much for the information. I do look forward to hearing from those that do use the pump.

I guess I am a little scared of it, but I guess it is like anything new, you get use to it and are comfortable with it.

Again, thank you so much
