I hadn't been checking my sugars, even fasting for a while now. I know, shame on me!! I really figured they were okay since I take SO much insulin. But, my fasting this morning was 194. My 2 hours after meal was 216. The only carbs I had was wheat toast, 1 cup milk, and less than a tbsp. jam. I took 21 units of Humalog with it...which is a lot. I take 45 units Lantus am and 45 units pm. That's huge!
I am seeing a nurse Friday, diabetic nurse? I'm not sure her title, but something like that. I need to write down my numbers for her for a couple days before the appointment. Boy, she's going to have some work to do with me! Not to mention I feel really stupid having not been checking at all.
Is it possible to be completely insulin resisitant, where it no longer works at all? If so, than what?

I don't know what to tell you Misty.
Insulin resistance is a terrible problem and it separates the type 1 diabetics from the type 2's. Type 1's don't have insulin resistance. There are a number of meds on the market to help breakdown insulin resistance but you can't have them while you are pregnant. Exercise is the very best thing for breaking down insulin resistance but you would need guidance from your health care provider as to how much and what kind of exercise you can do now that you pregnancy is this far along.
How many carbs were you supposed to have for breakfast? Actually your post eating number wasn't that bad. It was your fasting number that got you into trouble. Your blood sugar didn't go up that much with your breakfast so the short acting insulin really did its job. Your blood sugar only went up 22 points with eating which is wonderful.
I will be really interested in what the diabetes nurse has to tell you when you see her day after tomorrow. Please post back here as soon as you can.
Good luck and keep testing!
Type 1's can have insulin resistance.
Oh...forgot about MODY..they also can have insulin resistance.

When I first got pregnant, one of my doctors told me that you become insulin reissitant, or more so, when pregnant.
