What eating plan do you follow?
| Thu, 05-15-2008 - 10:39pm |
Do you count carbs? Calories? Some other method?
I hate to admit it, but my eating plan is eat whatever I want with a generous helping of guilt on the side.My numbers reflect this too and I'm ready to get back on track, except I don't think I've ever really been on a track with my eating since diagnosis. I need to get control of this.
Thanks for your help!
Julie

I do carbs..
Carbs here too, along with mostly whole foods (brown rice, whole wheat, etc). Also, I eat whatever I choose, no guilt at all. I -choose- in this moment NOT to have a heaping helping of ice cream or a big mug of hot cocoa with whipped cream and marshmallows. Not a ban, not a 'forever'/always, not a 'bad' thing (thus no guilt; food is just food). Just for right now, I choose something better for me in this moment. I'm not saying "No" to ice cream I'm saying "Yes" to something else (whether it's a different food or just a glass of ice water or walking away and doing something different and not having food right then). often that Yes is "Yes, I am choosing to be as healthy as possible as long as possible for myself and my family".
Also, I try to get the most bang for the buck - if I'm going to have 25 or 30 grams of carbs then I'm darn sure going to get a big helping of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals for that 25-30 grams.
Not only lose the white/processed foods but lose the guilt as well - that only feeds into feeling "I've already messed up so what's one more cookie..." which is a never ending downward spiral.
You CAN choose something different in this moment
