Hello-
I was referred to this site in hopes of getting info some of you may have!
A little history.. Last Oct. my obgyn (not preg.) referred me to a endocrinologist because my insulin lab levels came back 31. Blood sugar was 91 fasting. I was at 285 pounds and the endocrinologist put me on a diet last November. Dieting has been going ok. I want to get preg this year, but I'm really trying to get that insulin level down so that I don't end up with gestational diabetes. Insulin was tested last Feb. '08 (lost 28-30 pounds at the time) and my insulin level was 29. I tried Metforman last year and had bad side effects and was taken off of it. ie. Heart felt like it was racing and that I was having a heart attack or panic attack... basically I thought I was dieing! Endocrinologist seems to think I can fix my levels with just sticking to the diet BUT dang-it I'm in a hurry to get this thing fixed! hahaha
I've done some reading about Cinnamon and Chromium supplements. I know it’s a long shot. Has anyone had any results from taking these supplements? Any info you can share would be a big help to me!!
Sorry if this topic as been talked about before. I looked through the past couple months of posts and didn't see anythhing.

Mary Frances, thank you so much for all your good advice. It is wonderful to have you on this site. I will check with my doctor the next time I go. It really gets discouraging when you exercise 5 days a week, stay on your diabetes as well as weight watchers diet, and still only lose 1/2 lb a week!!!! I am usually a very positive person, but sometimes this gets me down (not for long). I have people tell me that after all the things I have had happen to me (medically) in the last 5 years, being over weight should be the least of my worries. I understand that, but I have never been this weight even when I was 9 mos pregnant. Plus, I may not be a diabetic if I lose the weight!!!!
I'm going to weigh in on your suppliment questions.
FYI I'm an American currently/temporarily living in England. I'm

It is good news that your doctor gave you this heads up while you still have a chance to make a difference.
I cook with cinnamon myself as it is a good sugar substitute.
hi, buglady2!
i recently read an article that said the best time of day to take cinnamon is in the morning, so taking it with your morning coffee is ideal as it makes the herb/supplement more effective.
good luck!
Thank you, cinnamon is good in your coffee.
Yesterday I came upon a recipe for cinnamon baked pork roast.
