Citrobacter freundii question

Hi ladies,
You have helped me so much with learning about my blood sugar issues I am hoping someone can tell me a little more about my infection problem.
I have had a uti with citrobacter freundi complex for months it became resistant to one antibiotic after another, it does not respond to any antibiotic anymore. It is making me quite sick and my Urologist has no idea what to do and I do have a appointment next week with a infection specialist but I sure feel horrible now.
It is my understanding that this bacteria feeds on sugar so is the resistance caused because I have diabetes ?
I am trying to keep my sugar levels down as much as I can and I got some glucernia drinks to use for meals instead of regular meals right now. My sugar does not get high after drinking these.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do until my appointment other than the obvious such as keep sugar under tight control and drink a lot of water get plenty of rest if possible etc?
Also has anyone ever had this or have knowledge of this bacteria? The urologist said he doesn't know if it is curable or not and offered me no other options if the new doctors choice of IV antibiotics do not work.
Do I just wait to get sepias if it doesn't't work? I asked if surgery would be an option and was told no.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
Blessings , Dee

Dee,
This really isn't within my area of expertise. My sister was around this board yesterday and hopefully she will show up today. I really rely on her because I don't know the bugs very well anymore.
I am so sorry that you are having such a bad time. Seems like they should be able to clean out the critters from your bladder wall with surgery if necessary. But I really don't know.
I too want to give you a cyber hug. I hope you start to feel better real soon.
Thank you Mary Frances.
This 'bug' sure is getting me down but so far my sugar is not doing to bad.
Hi Cheryl,
Dee;
I was wondering around this board tonight and saw your posting.
Hi Harriette,
Had my appointment and really liked the doctor! He actually listened and explained things very well.
My problem is mainly I have not been treated long enough for the infections.
Dee,
My sister told me that diabetic women need to take antibiotics longer to treat UTI's and that the standard 7-10 days wasn't long enough. Add that to the fact that you have chronic UTI infections. So it seems reasonable what the doctor had told you and I can't believe that you are at fault for your infections. That seems like an excuse for under treating you. Just my humble opinion.
I do so hope that this works for you and that finally you will get well.
Thank you Mary Frances!
