Good Question.

Insulin is safe out of refrigeration when the temperature is less than 86 degrees. So anything that would keep your insulin cool would be okay. I have seen wide mouth thermoses used to keep the insulin cool. You of course could leave it in the refrigerator and cautiously open the door to get it out when needed. Remember also that you need to keep cool liquids to drink as well and you don't want your food to spoil either. Less times you open the refrigerator when the power is off the better.

It is good to plan ahead and then you aren't swamped in an emergency.
