What do you do to stay cool in the summer heat?

  • Wear light clothes
  • Enjoy icy drinks
  • Stay indoors with the air conditioner running
  • Go swimming
  • Eat popsicles, sorbet or ice cream

You will be able to change your vote.

I needed an "other" or a combination answer.

We don't have a/c at home but I'm here at work 8-5 Mon-Fri in the a/c. At home we have a variety of fans (thermostatically controlled window fans plus ceiling fans in the bedrooms, window fans in the downstairs rooms). Lots of water. Canoeing on local lakes when possible. And sometimes if it's really unbearable we'll go to someplace like Starbucks where we can get a cool beverage and just hang out in the a/c for a nice long time - I'm trying to find a new favorite beverage since most of my old icy favorites are plain out at this point (most all the frappacino type things have tons of sugar as does the iced chai which used to be my default) - one good thing is that their sugar free syrups use a Splenda-type sweetener instead of a Nutrasweet-type sweetener (since Nutrasweet gives me migraine like headaches).

I had to decide which I did the most, which was stay indoors in the A/C, but I really do all of them.

Thanks for voting and commenting on the poll. I think the most important thing we can remember to do in the hot sizzling weather is to start drinking our fluids early. By the time we feel thirsty it is too late and we are already fluid deficient and on the way to dehydration.

So here's to a cold drink of some non-caloric liquid of your choice! I'll make mine ice tea without sugar!!
