DR's appt tomorrow

Had the blood work this morning, but see the doctor tomorrow and fear she will not be happy. I was getting back pretty consistently into at least walking around the park on break at work, then first tripped on curb and did something nasty to hand which puffed up like a balloon.  Then early last week I think it was I managed to really trip and wacked up a toe.  Am sure it is broken cuz the tissue around it had a lot of bleeding around it, and that sorta hung until the last day or 2.  It felt better weirdly while it was pretty swollen(i think the shoe sorta worked like a brace or cast.  But when the swelling has gone down there is more room to shift around in, so am not up to walking around the park  again. I even have told my supervisor I will not go up the ramp into the other part of our office.  That would put more pressure on the toe so I think I tried it one day but it hurt a lot, and now am just refusing to go up there.  Actually walking has me grumpy in general!

My weight had crept up about 5-8 pounds and was starting to go down to where it was before, and then the last few days going back up. Weirdly my BG numbers which had been getting higher, now seem to be staying lower.  In fact the last few weeks have gotten more fasting and before I eat numbers in the 80's and 90's.  Two week average according to the meter is 111 !    But it was higher before, so am thinking my A1C will be higher and also my weight.  I think weight might be a little lower than it was when i saw urgent care doctor about hand.  But then this afternoon I ate some cashews and I swear even the lightly salted ones I do buy sure can add to the weight.

I have been able to get some of the potting done, so all the tomatoes are in, except one ground cherry(which is really tomato type) which hid by the flowers when i was potting.  I still have to put plant food in several of the pots cuz i ran out.  I will hopefully be under my high of a couple years ago...but still have to put in all the herbs.  About ready to pot the lime basilin regular pots(so far 8 are still alive).

Nancy,

I am sending you healing vibes. I hope things aren't as bad as you expect. I don't remember if you were around here when I had my foot surgery and managed to run over my little toe on my good foot with my wheelchair and break my toe. I did this two days after surgery. The orthopedist couldn't believe what I had done. He suggested that I be careful before I broke my neck!

I am in the area where there are all the wildfires in California. It was so smokey in town today that it gave me a royal headache. Since I also have asthma I didn't go to the gym today. I thought I was really pushing it too much. But I did go out and water my veggie garden. Harvested two strawberries and a hand full of peas. I don't have enough shelled peas for the two of us yet but I should in a few days. Unfortunately the heat has knocked the socks out of my pea plants and so I will probably only get one harvesting. I did have green beans on some of my bean plants so that should be next. I have three volunteer tomatoes from last year but I don't know what variety, although I think they are sweet one millions plus two volunteer basil plants. It is a good thing about the volunteer basil plants because the one I planted this year isn't doing so well. I have harvested some fresh thyme and oregano. They smelled so good and tasted wonderful.

Please take it easy and let us know how you do. And I do hope that your garden starts producing soon.

Nancy,

Can they email you your lab results? That way you can see everything that you had done.

The huge file in the next town is 90% controlled and the winds have shifted so we are getting smoke from the fires south of San Francisco. They don't expect the smoke to leave until Sunday. It was so thick today I couldn't even see the hills that burned when I was up county today. They are telling everyone to stay in doors and not to use their air conditioners in your car but to out it on re-circulation.

I am so enjoying my garden but I think I will try a different kind of pots for next year. I have strawberries in an "earth box" but I think I will try the ones from Gardner's Exchange in Vermont. I have purchased their stuff before and really like the company. It was just that I was at the nursery and so it was easier to buy what was readily available.

As soon as your veggies start coming in you will do better because you will eat better and feel better about what is going on around you. All they would do to treat your toe is to tape it to the next one so really the tincture of time will take care of it. Probably you broke it since there was bleeding under the skin at the base of the toe. You could have x-rayed it but it would make any difference in how you treat it so I think you were wise not to waste the money for the additional radiation exposure.

Tomorrow I go for my three hour nuclear medicine test on my heart. I am worried about it because I can't have anything to eat and my blood sugar is usually pretty low in the early morning. We shall see what happens. Please keep me in your thought and keep your fingers crossed for me.
