fungus rash

I saw my dermatologist 16 days ago for a rash in both arm pits and under my breasts. He said it was a fungus and gave me a salve for it. After 10 days, it was no better, so I saw the doctor again. He took a piece of tissue for a biopsy and put in a few stitches. I go back on July 2nd for results and to have stitches removed. I just saw, on a diabetes site, about fungus infections of the skin. The doctor doesn't seem to know exactly what this is since the salve did not do anything. Could this rash be from diabetes or is it not clearing up because of the diabetes???? How do you get a fungus rash?? It itches too!!! My BS numbers are under control, I eat a healthy diet. Now I can't exercise because the doctor said not to sweat. Any ideas!!!!

How about SOY yogurt or acidopholus capsules (available at most pharmacies and grocery stores that have vitamins and supplements)? Those 'active cultures' are what you're looking for when you are using yogurt to increase good bacteria and kill off bad bacteria.

Oh had another thought - related though - could be thrush (which is also a candidia) - thrush is particularly known in babies (mouth) but it is also possible for a nursing mom to get it as well. It can take over after a course of antibiotics since they kill off all the good bacteria along with the bad. That's why adding back the good bacteria (via food or supplement tablets) is important.

While this is a urinary site, it does provide very good infromation on yeast infections in general and how to manage them.

I don't know what this means, but..........I have not used the cream that the doctor prescribed all week and the rash is sooooooooooooooo much better!!!! I don't understand that. Only thing I can think of is maybe I am allergic to something in the cream that aggravated the rash.

Barbara,

I read diet books like some people read novels...with almost as much enjoyment, to be sure.

Better Homes and Gardens has out a book entitled The Smart Diet and the following is a quote from this book.

"Principles of a nondiet approach

  • Focus on your total health and well-being, including mind, body, and spirit, instead of focusing on weight loss or striving to reach an unrealistic weight.
  • Respect and accept the diversity of the physical attributes of your own body as well as the bodies of others.
  • Develop a true awareness of the pleasures of eating - rely on internal hunger cues.
  • Enjoy a variety of foods rather than rely on limiting diets or strict meal plans.
  • Celberate the joy of physical activity.

Okay everyone, I went to the doctor today and found I was a day early and my doctor wasn't there. They did, however, let me see another one. The biopsy came back contact dermititis/ecezma. I told the dr that I had never seen ecezma like that before and that I had it on my hand. He said it was a different type and YES,l the prescribed cream would make it worse because of the alcohol in it. So, I am to do nothing, just like I have been doing, and if it gets worse, he gave me a prescription for another cream. So, I guess I do nothing except keep area dry, no deodorant, etc until it is cleared up!!!
