I got this in the mail today

medications in tier 1 have the lowest copayment while medication in tier 3 have the highest the Accu-Check glucose test strips you're currently using tier 3 which means you pay $50.00 in per refill ( which I don't pay that I only pay $15.00) you could switch to one of the tier1 strips  if your Dr agrees its appropriate for you and pay $7.00per refill

now I don't get what is a tier 1 and 3

Sounds like the letter that I got from my drug coverage the other day. They want me to drop my AccuChek Compact plus meter or pay more for the drums. My insurance won't cover the Lifescan meters either. My guess is that the insurance companies could negotiate enough of a price break and so they ahve decided to pass the costs on to you and me. I am going to pay because I really like my meter. But it is going to get expensive since my husband and I both have a meter.

Make sure that your doctor orders a large enough number of strips to make it cost effective. For example order three months worth instead of one month. You will pay the same deductible but get more for it.

Its a bummer! But it is cheaper than purchasing the strips from a pharmacy.
