Byetta question

Hi! I've posted a few times over the years and you've always been helpful. I did a search and saw a few people have used byetta. I'm starting it tomorrow and I am a bit nervous about giving myself the injection. I met with a nurse practioner tonight and I feel much more confident.

I've been a type 2 diabetic for 9 years. I am 49 years old. I started on Glucotrol and that worked well. A few years ago my doctor added Actos which is when I gained a ton of weight. I am 45lbs heavier now then when I started it. My friend's aunt tried Byetta and lost quite a bit of weight. I asked the endocrinologist if I could get off Actos and he said, "yes , when you lose 50lbs." You can see the Catch 22 and why I'm not too keen on this doctor. My numbers are creeping up and I want to lose weight so I agreed to try Byetta. My question is tonight the practioner who specializes in diabetic issues (and was great) seemed shocked that the doctor cut my glucotrol from 10 to 5, but left the Actos at 45. I HATE this Actos and she said this is totally why I am having the weight issues. The doctor also gave me a free sample of Byetta and never told me it had to be refrigerated and it sat on my counter in the heat while I was on vacation. I could only get the one sample. She told me to cut the Actos to 30 and gave me a bunch of free samples. I have insurance but the Actos I got for 90 days still cost at least $150.

Sorry for the ramble, I'll wrap up. LOL. My questions are: if you took or are taking Byetta if you got nauseus with it, how soon after taking it do you eat and what have your results been. I am also curious if anybody took Actos and if they had the weight problem.

The stuff I read from users said to eat immediately, yet she said to wait 30 minutes.

I made the mistake of looking at all kinds of message boards about Byetta and it seems everyone is deathly ill or their numbers went down instantly! My afternoon numbers were terrible too and I called the practioner. She called me back!! She is very nice and told me to double the glucotrol, so hopefully that will help. You will probrably do very well and not get nauseous from the 10mg. I tend to cave in to the power of suggestion, but I don't feel ill at all from it. I don't feel really full either, though I've been eating ultra small, no carb portions with these high numbers.
