I have been having trouble with my fillings for a few weeks. I would bite down and I would get such pain. I told the dentist last year and they said fillings can do that sometimes. Yesterday I woke up to a 102 degree fever and couldn't eat all day. When I ate, I would vomit. I rested all day and by day's end, my fever was down. Today I woke to 100 degree fever, pain in my mouth, nauseau, and pressure between my eyes. I don't have insurance and my hubby is getting upset that my health problems are causing us money. I already saw the doctor and paid $70 and she told me of a place to get my meds cheap. She even gave me samples which helped. Two weeks ago my left eye started getting funny and now I am going to the eye doctor which costs too and I don't think I could afford the dentist. I don't know what is wrong with me. I am tired of being sick and not having money or insurance. DH is still looking for a job, but to no advile and he isn't trying that hard :( I am scared. Could my fillings and high temp cause me lots of problems?
My mouth feels yucky, I have bad breath and my stomach feels sick. Fortunately I got a free meter from a drug company, but have to strips. I have to order them at a price so I don't know where my numbers are.
Having diabetes and no insurance is scaring me. I feel stressed. Any help would be appreciated.

Debbie, I am sorry you are having problems.
Eye problems and nausea can be directly caused by tooth problems. IF that got taken care of, the rest of these symptoms (and the dr visits associated with them) would likely abate. True story: my mom's aunt thought she was dying. Nausea, dizziness, blinding headaches, muscle issues (weakness, trembling, etc), basically all the symptoms you'd suspect with a brain tumor. She got her head scanned and nothing - no sign of anything up there (lol) Turned out that she had some badly infected teeth - cleared up the infection, all her symptoms were gone just like that.
If you have a large university anywhere in your area that has a dental school, often they have the students (the ones about to graduate, akin to medical students interning) do supervised dental work CHEAP (since they're not licensed yet, but they are supervised by their licensed dentist professors). Might be a way to deal with that for less than seeing a dentist. But, you've also got to compare the costs of all these dr visits with the cost of getting the tooth problem taken care of - yes, dental work cost$ but so are all these other appointments KWIM?

Just because it's not an abcess and there's something going around doesn't mean there's not an infection or something there - you've got pain when you bite down, that's a problem and that's not likely the flu. There are way more possible infection issues than abcesses near the surface.

Debbie,
I agree with Deb. You can have a problem with the roots of your tooth and not feel and abcess. Does your county have a dental clinic? Mine does but they only treat by extracting the offending tooth. No root canals or anything like that. Diabetics are especially susceptible to gum problems because of our sweetness (elevated blood sugar). You really need to get this checked out as soon as you are able.
Hi,
Deb's suggestion about contacting a university dental school is one I can also agree with. We
I'm not a doctor (and don't even play one on TV lol) but an infection that hangs around in your body for any length of time can become a systemic problem and cause inflammation in all sorts of places. A fever that doesn't come down is an issue; pain is an issue; a racing heart rate is definitely a problem - it indicates that your heart is needing to work extra hard to get oxygenated blood to the rest of your body and clear out the toxins that need to get out of the body.
You might even run, not walk, to the nearest ER if the pain, fever, and racing heart rate don't come down PDQ

Remember too, that infections and other problems that you ignore do NOT go away and often lead to more serious and much more expensive problems.
