I was thinking about you and wondering how you are doing with the 10mg of Byetta? I hope you were able to tolerate it.

Barbara,
I am glad you are doing well with the byetta. Just be watchful and if you start to have problems immediately notify your doctor. I am sure he will be testing you periodically to make sure that everything stays okay. I think the reson that you aren't nauseated with the 10mg is that your system has gotten used to it which is why they start you on the lower dosage.
Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Hi Mary Frances, what kind of tests would the doctor be giving me to check on the Byetta??? I get several different kinds of blood work on a regular basis. The most frequent is liver and CBC with diff. I get those every other month now (used to be monthly), I get the one for diabetes dr, every 3 months, and for the oncologist, every 6 months now. Worked up from every 3 months!!! I am thinking that as long as I feel okay, then I am okay with the Byetta.
Barbara,
I would think that you need to have your liver studies done and a serum amylase. Amylase is the only test that I know that checks for what is happening to the pancreas. Ask your doctor but I think since this warning came out that doctors will be more careful with this medication. Some seem to think it should be added to the water supply for diabetics! The problem with diabetics is that it takes longer than normal to find out all the complications from our new medications.
I am so happy to hear you are doing well with it!
