Newly diagnosed

Hi,

I have been newly diagnosed with diabetes.  Last Thursday I went to urgent care with thirst, and very blurry vision.  I had a blood sugar of 927.  I spent two days in the hospital and was sent home with novalog and lantus.  My blood sugars are ranging from 38 to 432.  My morning sugar is doing well, I take 14 units of lantus at night and my morning numbers are below 120.  Today I had a hard time eating and my blood sugar was low all day.  They did an AIC in the hospital and said I was between 200 and 300 for the past several months.

I am not over weight, but have a family history of diabetes.  I fiugured sooner or later I would join the family club.  However, I still can't believe this is happening to me.  I have to be strong for my family, but a part of me wants to sit in the corner and pout.

I have not regained my vision  yet, I can't see with my glasses on and it is hard to read, which it never was before.

Thanks for letting me vent,

Amber

A diagnosis of diabetes sure does rock your world! I was not overweight either when diagnosed and all these tv shows about 400lb people who better wake up and lose weight before they get it sure bug the heck out of me!

On the weight, we do share that info with posters since sadly, most of us do need to lose some weight.

My friends do not have access to internet now.

If type 1 person faces kidney issue or amputation,

what are most advanced clinical trials on new methods to alleviate or curtail auto-immune disorder or pancreas disease today?

I am sorry I know nothing about any animal research which includes transplanting animal cells into humans. Last time I heard about this was a chimp heart that was transplanted and the recipient didn't last too long. There are huge problems with animal to human transplants of any kind. So I am sorry I can't help you.
