OMG!
I've been thinking about getting a back up meter - I, too, don't need it to gauge medication dosages - for those 'just in case' times (weird readings for example). And, it's easy enough to get a free meter. What's keeping me from getting another meter, though, is not wanting to pay for TWO sets of test strips instead of just the one. I keep waffling on the subject (oops not waffling, too many carbs, I'm uh "omeletting" on it LOL)

WELL, mine is an accucheck compact and I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Walmart had the newer version for $17.
look what i found on the site
Drat - it appears that only applies to the Aviva model...
Good point, that I just get another of the same kind to have on hand. DOH! Why didn't I think of that. LOL
I've often thought of having another so I can have one here at work and one at home/on the go with me. That way I wouldn't have to be hauling this one back and forth daily - there have been days when I left it home and couldn't test all day at work (I only test a couple times per day, per the dr's orders so I just tested before and/or after dinner and/or before bed on those days)
