A while back, Eldersis wrote about having a hip replacement. She had hers last Tuesday, and everything went along just swimmingly. They took very good care of her in the hospital, although it did worry her that sometimes her bg was 200 or a little over (that's very high to us), but we figured that it was all of the saline/dextrose solution they were giving her. She was released to Warm Springs (yay!) for re-hab on Friday. That is about 50 miles away from here; the gasoline shortage prevents us from going to see her. She called and said that the meals were carbs! carbs! carbs! She kept telling them that she's diabetic, but they brought her grits and biscuits for breakfast! She told them she couldn't eat that, then they brought her corn flakes!!! Can you believe that??? I don't know who they have for a dietician, but they must have flunked out of school. The re-hab there is supposed to be the very best; of course, that is where President Franklin Delano Roosevelt received his treatments for polio. She calls me on my cell phone using hers, but the signal is not good. I don't want to interrupt any treatments or disturb the routine, therefore, I wait for her to call me. She said the pain on the first day there was terrific, but she is limited because of adverse reactions she has to the pain medications.

Thank you so much for reporting in on Elder Sis. Please tell her that I send my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I do bet she educates them on what a diabetic is supposed to eat! I hope that you can make the trip to see her once in a while because it is a long drive. My husband's hospital was 30 miles from home and the days that I had to make two trips each way was certainly long. But he is home now and hopefully she will be going home in a few weeks. Is she going to stay with you or try to go back to her own home?
Have a great week,
Thanks for letting us know how she is!!!

I'm afraid that going to see her will be out of the question!

Eldersis is just that, and eldest sibling; she'll get'em straight!

I've spent my share of time in "rehabs".
The suggestion for most diabetics in "rehab"
