Honestly........It's only Splenda

I got a call from Eldersis this morning; she's been trying to keep me posted on her progress.  She has had problems with her diet while she is there.  They don't seem to understand about what a diabetic should eat.  The first morning, they brought her grits, and biscuits; she explained that there was too much carbohydrates in that meal, so they took it back and brought her corn flakes!  She finally convinced them that oatmeal would be OK, but they don't have any way to sweeten it.  They only have Sweet-n-Low which we both hate. Another day, they brought her Bran Flakes with raisins in it; they had picked out all of the raisins except three that they missed. :-) I sent her a card last week with 24 packets of Splenda in it.  I wrapped the whole card, with the Splenda inside of it in some of that Cling wrap, then slipped it in the envelope.  I've been worried about that card from the minute I put it in the mailbox.  It seemed to take forever for it to get there.  I was beginning to think that you girls would be writing me at some Federal facility.  Can you imagine what would happen if that got torn, and white powder sifted out????

She said today, that they  were preparing her to come home on Thursday.  They gave her the task of making a sandwich, making the bed, sweeping the floor (about 20 feet), and she said that she was worn out.  It was then about 2 pm.  She has one of those 'Rollator' walkers, more reachers (she already had a couple), a bath chair that is one that the patient sits on the outside of the tub, then can slide the chair into the tub.  Our niece and her husband will get her to bring her home with the pickup truck, there is so much stuff.

DH will have his ear sutures removed tomorrow.  The ear has healed beautifully.   Maybe we're done with the Drs. for a little while.

2sweet02,

Thanks for the report. I am excited that she gets to go home on Thursday. Is there a Meals on Wheels service near her? If she signs up for that she won't have to cook for a few days.

I did laugh at your discription of the Splenda. Certainly they wouldn't taste it to make sure it wasn't anthrax or cocaine!

Hubby saw the surgeon today who was extremely pleased with his progress. He is now allowed to drive again!

Our Meals on Wheels program is currently hurting because of the gasoline shortage and the high cost of it when it is available.

It sounds as if they have planned for just about every need that she will have.
